Percutaneous nephrostomy rate
(Noun) a surgical procedure in which the surgeon removes a large kidney stone via cutting through the patient's thoracic region and is done when the stone is too large to be removed by laser lithotripsy or ESWL.
Usage: The patient's kidney stone was so large they had to remove it via percutaneous nephrostomy.
